biography
Stefania Panighini studied at the National Academy of DramaticArts in Rome and at the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Turin. She also graduated in Musicology at the Turin University.
In 2004 she won the Prize Idee per Alfieri (Festival Astiteatro) and then began to work as a stage director and assistant with David Alagna, Paul Emil Fourny, Gianni Marras, Francesco Micheli and Rosetta Cucchi.
Her recent productions include La voix humaine in Bologna, Claudio etArtemisia, a piece wrote and staged by Stefania Panighini about Artemisia Gentileschi and Claudio Monteverdi. She has also staged Livietta e Tracollo and La serva Padrona by G.B. Pergolesi as well as Pomme d'Api and Monsieur Choufleuriresterachez lui by Offenbach coproduced by the Festival della Valle d'Itria, the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, the Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini and the Lugo Opera Festival. For the Paisiello Festival in Taranto she has staged Le finte contesse for the first time in modern times.
In 2013 she did Gazzaniga's Don Giovanni in Bozen, Traviata at Wexford Opera Festival, the remake of La Bohème (Francesco Micheli) at Teatro La Fenice in Venice and she has directed Orlando by Handel with the Theater An der Wien Young Ensemble in the Kammeroper (Wien). Future plans include a revival of La Bohème (Francesco Micheli) in Venice and a Don Giovanni in Turin and The Hoperance Project about Opera/Dancetheater/Visualart.
She has collaborated with Teatro Regio of Torino, Teatro Valli of Reggio Emilia, Teatro Comunale of Bologna, Teatro Pavarotti of Modena, Opéra National de Lorraine, Teatro Municipale of Piacenza, Fondazione Pergolesi Spontini, Wexford Opera Festival, Teatro Verdi of Sassari, Lugo Opera Festival, Teatro La Fenice of Venezia, Teatro Grande of Brescia, Festival de Opera in Tenerife, Opéra de Nice, Festival della Valle d'Itria,International Short Film Festival in Capalbio, Piccolo Festival del Friuli Venezia Giulia. She has directed among others Così fan tutte, Mirra Show Reel, Le nozze diFigaro, Color de Buenos Aires, Falstaff, Histoire dusoldat, Peter and theWolf, DerSchauspieldirektor, Dido &Aeneas, Gianni Schicchi, SuorAngelica, Lulu - Rifrazioni della luce, Rigoletto, Il segreto di Susanna e Procedura Penale.
Stefania Panighini is professor of Performing Artsin the State Conservatory and writes several essays in musicology, including a study of Pelléas et Melisande for the Opera Comique (Paris), makes also videoclip and documentaries. She plays also intense activity for a young audience; in 2009 she was Research Associate for the Turin Conservatory with the project Una musica da favola, directing La Boîte a Joujoux by Claude Debussy and André Hellé. In 2012 she has made Opera Kids (As.Li.Co) for 3 to 5 years old children.
